The business-intelligence software company announced its purchase of about 13,005 bitcoins for $489 million in cash at an average price of roughly $37,617 inclusive of fees and expenses. There are now some 105,085 bitcoins in MicroStrategy’s holdings.
@CTVNews — NASCAR driver Cassill to be paid in cryptocurrency in deal with Voyager.With a Voyager sponsorship deal, Landon Cassill will be the first NASCAR driver paid entirely in cryptocurrency. The deal begins at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend and Cassill will be paid in Litecoin.
@FinancialPost — Athena says will install 1,500 cryptocurrency ATMs in El Salvador. Following El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender, Athena Bitcoin has plans to invest over $1 million to install cryptocurrency ATMs in the country. The firm expects to gradually install the ATMs, hire staff and open an office to carry out operations in El Salvador.
@Coindesk — Stronghold Digital Mining Raises $105M to Turn Waste Coal Into Bitcoin. The mining firm converts a material left over from coal mining into power used to mine bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Waste coal is defined as a Tier II alternative energy source by state regulators and equivalent to hydropower.
@Cointelegraph — Institutional exchange launches crypto debit card. Intercontinental Exchange subsidiary Bakkt has introduced a virtual Visa debit card that enables customers to use crypto for retail purchases. The card can be used online and in-store without the wait to convert the cryptocurrency to fiat.
